![]() Then there's a very small common area inside the apartment and then a little alcove where they're allowed like a refrigerator and a coffeemaker, and I believe they would be allowed a microwave, but no toaster, and no toaster oven, nothing that could create a flame. This friendship suite is more economical because you're sharing, and each pays their share of that accommodation. It's two separate bedrooms, and they have little balconies off the back with a chair and a little table, so that you can be outdoors. We looked at a studio, a one-bedroom, and a two-bedroom, and they also offer what they call a friendship suite. When you first walk into the building, the foyer was quite spacious. The community was calm, beautiful, and peaceful. What they do is they give you a test, and if you score below a certain level, then you go into memory care, and if you score above that level, you could go into assisted. Robin I went to Cypress Palms Memory Care. It's glamorous and has very high-quality everything, but it feels a lot like a hotel rather than a home and is not as user-friendly. Most of the amenities are on the ground floor, so they would have to be taking elevators up and down from their apartments. It seemed kind of overwhelming and a lot to adjust to and take in. Given the price and the fact that the buildings were so spread out, I thought my parents would get lost, and they felt a little bit intimated by just navigating all the different elevators and buildings. They did have a Parkinson's support group and specific things for Parkinson's, which was really important to us. They referred us to the other building, and that was also very nice, but they were pricey. The first one that we went into was looking really good until we asked if they could accommodate my dad's special diet. I am/was a resident of this facilityĬaring90569650 Cypress Palms was somewhat pricey but beautiful, very big, spread out. It was a little bit expensive, but it's such a good place. We just recently had an Alzheimer's special thing last night, and then we're having another special activity in the auditorium tonight. We have other programs, and they have groups that come in and do a lot of things. I'm a retired minister and I recently completed a series of 11 meetings in our auditorium. ![]() They have a lot of special music groups that come in. They stayed with us until 2:00 in the morning to make sure we were OK. They did x-rays here for us and everything. Some workers came over and helped us, and as we got up and started walking back to our place, a nurse came out and assisted us back to our nursing station in Cypress Palms. We took my wife for a walk in her wheelchair and the front wheel caught in a ditch on the sidewalk and we both tripped over and fell on the street and couldn't get back up. We have nursing care available if we need it, but we very seldom need that. We also have our laundry taken care of once a week, and my wife gets help with bathing. They come and clean our room once a week. ![]() The facility is very well kept, maintained very beautifully, and clean. Ronald We're very pleased with Cypress Palms.
